Aquinas Club
The
Aquinas Club is an umbrella program that promotes independent learning for
academically talented students. These high achieving students are challenged and
enriched by their academic, spiritual, and intellectual pursuits.
The program is open to students in grades 6 to 8 who meet the required criteria:
Maintain an 85% or better average on their report card from the last 2 school years,
Demonstrate self motivation,
Work well as a team member,
Receive the recommendation of two faculty members, and
Receive the approval of the principal.
Further requirements include:
The students must maintain their grade averages and good conduct throughout the school year.
They must have a working knowledge of how to gather information about the project, attend the meetings, and participate fully in all activities and trips that pertain to the project.
· Each year they will participate in the annual Aquinas Expo sponsored by the Diocese.
There are currently 14 students in the program. For school year 2008-2009 the students chose two projects:
1) Armageddon - to investigate its origins and future predictions.
2) Psychological disorders - its causes, effects on individuals in modem society, and cures.
